Dr. 'Layi Fatona, Managing Director, Niger Delta Exploration & Production, is a Petroleum Geologist with over 40 years of practice, commencing with a seven year stint in the Petroleum Engineering and Exploration & Production departments at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC). He is a leading authority on the geology of the Niger Delta Oil and Gas Province. He obtained both an MSc and PhD degrees from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine, University of London (now Imperial College London). He is a past president and fellow of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationist (NAPE) and a Certified Petroleum Geologist of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
Mr. Austin Avuru, Chief Executive Officer, Seplat is a co-founder of Seplat and was appointed Chief Executive Officer on May 1, 2010. Prior to joining Seplat, Austin spent twelve years at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) beginning in 1980, where he held various positions including wellsite geologist, production seismologist and reservoir engineer. In 1992, he joined Allied Energy Resources in Nigeria, a pioneer deepwater operator, where he worked as exploration manager and technical manager. In 2002, Austin established Platform Petroleum Limited and held the role of managing director until 2010. He has served the oil and gas industry in various capacities including his work as the technical co-ordinator for the review of the industry’s memorandum of understanding, membership of the ministerial committee on the restructuring of the DPR and his role as a consultant to the Senate committee on petroleum resources between 2000 and 2003. He obtained a Geology degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1980 and a post-graduate diploma in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1992.
Mr. Eghosa Omoigui, General Partner, EchoVC Partners is the founder and Managing General Partner of EchoVC Partners. Prior to this, he was with Intel for nearly 10 years and his last role was as Intel Capital Director, Strategic Investments, Consumer Internet & Semantic Technologies, where he acted as a senior investment professional focused on platform-agnostic consumer web services and digital media-based investment opportunities. Omoigui also drove ICap's investment focus on next generation semantic technologies, smart data and the realtime web. Eghosa was personally responsible for developing supporting theses for and sourcing investment opportunities in various companies including AdMob, Jaiku, Powerset, Facebook, LinkedIn, Teracent and Pandora. Omoigui also served as Chief of Staff to the President of Intel Capital and to Intel’s Treasury organization. Omoigui attended University of Pennsylvania Law School and Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Mr. Jay Alabraba, Co-Founder, Head Sales and Distribution, Pagatech, has over a decade of work experience spanning the High-Tech, Pharmaceutical and Financial Services sectors. Before joining Pagatech, he managed a Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking team at BGL in Lagos. Jay began his career as a Program Manager at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, where he led a cross-functional team that received several patent awards for innovative work in the anti-piracy and data protection arena. In 2004, he accepted a fellowship in Global Marketing at Eli Lilly & Co., a US-based pharmaceutical company. In that role, he managed projects for the Neuroscience drug marketing units in North America and Europe. Jay joined Goldman Sachs as an MBA summer intern in 2006, and rejoined the firm as a full-time Investment Banking Associate in 2007. Jay received a Bachelors degree (cum laude) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University and holds a MBA from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University.
Mr. Mike Ogbalu, Head, Mobile Financial Services, First Bank of Nigeria, has over 7 years of sound IT industry experience and several years of retail banking experience covering technology planning, deployment and management of enterprise-wide infrastructure, remittances, retail product sales, electronic banking, and product and project management. His significant achievements include managing the implementation of Visa range of card products within a record 3-month time frame, leading UBA’s e-banking infrastructure consolidation, and repositioning UBA’s Cashfast money transfer and MoneyGram products to achieve industry leadership. Mike managed the e-banking portfolio of Ecobank Nigeria which covers credit, debit and prepaid card issuing, channel acquiring, mobile payments, internet banking, and alert services. He was also responsible for building the most successful Mobile Money service in Nigeria. Mike holds an electrical/electronic engineering degree and is a fellow of the International Academy of Cards and Payment. He also holds an MBA from Lagos Business School.
Mr. Olumide Olusanya, Chief Executive Officer, Gloo.ng, oversaw the building and development of the local and international payment networks of many Nigerian Tier-1 banks. In 2003, Olumide led the team that developed the POS system that processed Nigeria's first online-realtime POS transaction. He also led the team that rolled out West Africa's first indigenously issued and processed online-realtime international payment card, Ecobank MasterCard, in 2004. He played a pivotal and strategic role at Cards Technology Limited (brought in as technology co-founder, then CEO), building and establishing it from its technology implementation phase leading up to its operational phase. He transformed United Bank for Africa’s Payment Card Business within 9 months of running it. He is an alumni of Lagos Business School (LBS), IESE Business School, Barcelona and Said Business School, Oxford University, UK.
Mr. Onajite Okoloko, Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director, Notore Chemical Industries Limited is a founding partner of the Ocean & Oil Group. He is a former member of the Board of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and is the Chairman of Midwestern Oil and Gas PLC. Prior to his return to Nigeria in 1994, he worked in corporate America and has over 20 years experience in sales, marketing and business development. Onajite was appointed a member of the Presidential Committee on Oil and Gas in 2004 as the sole representative of the private sector. He is an active member of the Nigerian Economic Summit (Policy Formulation) Group and the National Technical Working Group of the Nigeria Vision 2020. Onajite graduated from University of Benin, Nigeria in 1986, with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Oscar Onyema, OON, Chief Executive Officer, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), resumed his current role in April 2011. Before joining the NSE, he served for over 20 years in the United States financial market and the Nigerian information technology sector. He is the Chairman of the West African Capital Market Integration Council and the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc., the clearing house for the Nigerian capital market. He serves as a Council member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria (CIS), Vice President of the African Securities Exchanges Association, and he is a global agenda council member of the World Economic Forum. Mr. Onyema serves on the boards of all NSE subsidiaries, as well as FMDQ OTC Plc. In 2009, Mr. Onyema founded Market Strategists LLC and consulted under the Gerson Lehrman Group platform in the United States. He also served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at American Stock Exchange (Amex), which he joined in 2001. Mr. Onyema holds an MBA in Finance and Investments from Baruch College, New York. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
Mr. Rasheed Olaoluwa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bank of Industry (BoI) was formerly the Group Chief Executive Officer of UBA Capital Plc from January 2013 to May 2014 and, prior to that, he was an Executive Director at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) between March 2008 and December 2012 coupled with his role as Chief Executive Officer of UBA Africa. Before joining UBA in 2006, Olaoluwa worked at Arthur Andersen and served as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Universal Trust Bank Plc. He holds a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ife and an executive MBA degree from International Graduate School of Management (IESE), Spain. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
Mr. Sonnie Ayere, Non-Executive Director, Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company, has over 20 years of in-depth corporate and structured finance, corporate banking and asset management experience working with global institutions such as HSBC London, NatWest Bank, The Sumitomo Mitsui Bank, Bank of Montreal – Nesbitt Burns, the International Finance Corporation (The World Bank Group) based in Washington D.C. and Johannesburg, South Africa and the UBA Group. At UBA Group, he served as the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of UBA Global Markets, the investment banking arm of the group in August, 2005. After 4 years at the helm of the investment banking arm of UBA Plc, he founded Dunn Loren Merrifield in June 2009. Ayere holds an MA (Hons.) in Financial Economics from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He is an Alumni of Cass Business School(MBA) and London Business School. He was recently conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science (D.Sc.) from the European-American University in July 2009. Sonnie Ayere was appointed NMRC task manager in December 2012.
Mr. Uche Orji, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) joined the NSIA as CEO in October 2012, from UBS Securities, where he was Managing Director in the New York branch of its Equities division. Prior to UBS Securities, he had spent 6 years at JP Morgan Securities in London, from 2001-2006, rising from the post of Vice President to Managing Director within the Equities division. Prior to JP Morgan, Uche was at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, London, from 1998-2001, as analyst/portfolio manager. He studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, graduating in 1990, and obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1998.
Mrs. Stella Obinwa, Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer, Wakanow.com is an experienced hospitality and travel industry executive. She started her career with Deloitte & Touche as a Sr Project Controller and then spent the next 15 yrs in operational finance management with Walt Disney World, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts with financial and marketing responsibility for South USA and the Caribbean Resorts. Stella has a Masters in Business Administration (minor in Finance) from Franklin University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management also from Franklin.
